If you are looking for accommodation in the Tohmajärvi area, you should make a note of this place. Itärajan Helmi is a great place to calm down and relax. You can go to the lakeside sauna to take a sauna and swim in Tohmajärvi. Forget about the TV and laptop here! The Karelian dishes and morning porridge conjured up by the hostess, Riitta, are excellent. Riitta is a very hospitable hostess! The cheerful Maxi dog greets guests in her irresistible way. In the barn you sleep on hotel-quality mattresses and in the morning you are ready for the challenges of a new day. I will definitely come here again, Strong recommendation!

Summer offered warmth and light. Riitta offered a variety of overnight stays and delicious food with excellent service. As the hot day faded into the evening, it was nice to sit outside and watch the landscape opening up to Lake Tohmajärvi prepare for the embrace of the summer night. The hostess is a distinguished culinary professional, which is evident in the delicious and healthy food. The place is located on a high hill, with wide views and gentle summer breezes. Itärajan Helmi is clean and the accommodation is brand new. The beds are of high quality. There is a private beach and peace. Half board is nice. During meals, spontaneous conversations and nice encounters arise with other guests. I recommend it. Greetings from North Karelia!

Summer kitchen
The summer kitchen can host about 25 guests, with room for an additional 25 in the tent. I prepare the food myself using local ingredients—my “ace in the hole” is the breakfast, featuring freshly baked rolls and traditional Karelian pasties. The beach, sauna, Tentsiles, and glamping tent are all at your disposal. You are welcome to enjoy the sauna as much as your heart desires.
